This diploma thesis deals with description of forest stands created by revitalization on the Semirara island after opencast coal mining. Within the external description, the aim was to divide the forest stands. Then described their thickness and height structure, wood composition, horizontal and vertical structure of stands. The measured values were then analyzed and other dendrometric quantities, a circular base and the total average increment in the height and thickness of the trees were calculated.. Increments were compared for woody plants Leucaena leucocephala and Cassuarina equisetifolia. As part of the evaluation of the impact of reforestation of stands on the environment of the island were from satellites Landsat 7 and 8 satellites, from which the surface temperature was calculated for two periods with a time interval of 10 years. By analyzing the relationship between the surface temperature of the stands and the amount of vegetation, we found that the afforestation of the area was reflected in a decrease in the surface temperature of the stands.
