The aim of the diploma thesis is to determine the need for forces and means used to extinguish a fire in the natural environment through a simulated model case and their subsequent comparison from the point of view of real, common practice. The diploma thesis is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter we deal with the theoretical knowledge of the issue of fires in the natural environment, a description of individual types of fires in that category, their possible causes and also an overview of environmental fires in the Slovak Republic over the past ten years. The second chapter deals with the goal and methodology of the thesis. The third chapter has a practical character and is focused on the calculation of forces and means needed to extinguish a fire in the natural environment, specifically in the village Krásna Ves in the district Bánovce nad Bebravou through a model situation based on calculations from President HaZZ Instruction No. 39 of 2003. Based on the findings arising from the third part of the thesis, we compare the results calculated by us with common practice.
