The aim of the Master´s Thesis is to evaluate land use changes in a basin of river Hron in district of Brezno after 1950 with a focus on the regulation of watercourse and it is consequences. Processed area is a part of city Brezno which is also a district town. The river Hron flows through the territory and also there is located National Park Low Tatras. The Master´s Thesis describes primary, secondary and tertiary landscape structure and changes in land use in selected part of the Hron river basin in 1950 and 2019. The results were obtained by processing maps data of the secondary landscape structure from 1950 and the current landscape structure from 2019 in a combination with the field survey. The obtaines results provided us an overview of the regulations in a watercourse and land use changes in the surrounding country in the cadastral area of Brezno. The biggest changes in a land use since 1950 have been observed in the change of small-block fields to large-block arable land, regulation of the Rohozna watercourse and the expansion of urban areas.
