GONDA, Matej: Growth changes of spruce at the upper forest limit due to climate change in the Low Tatras region. Bachelor Thesis. Technical University in Zvolen. Faculty of Forestry. Field of study: Forestry. Supervisory department: Department of Forest Resource Planning and Informatics. 2020. 62 pagesBachelor thesis Growth changes of spruce at the upper forest limit due to climate change in the Low Tatras region presents scientific analyses of the effects of climate change on forest ecosystems with focus on the analysis of the current dendrochronological measurements of the Norway spruce growth in the area of Veľká Vápenica in the Low Tatras. The main aim of the thesis is to deal with the current state of the correlation between climate change and the change in the state of growth reactions of the spruce in the monitored area. First chapter reflects the contemporary scientific knowledge from slovak as well as foreign studies on climate change, specifics and ecology of the spruce growth and methodology of dendrochronological research in general. Second chapter presents the researched problem, the aim, methodics and results of the dendrochronological measurements of the tree in the monitored area, which indicate the negative impact of climate change on its growth. The last chapter summarizes results of the research and the discussion outlines further aspects and research possibilities of the spruce growth in regard to changing climate conditions.
