The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the demand of the population for selected ecosystem services in the city of Poltár. Background topographic maps and orthophotos were used for this purpose. Subsequent allocation of the values of the potential for the provision of ecosystem services to individual elements of the current landscape structure, maps of the potential for the provision of categories of ecosystem services according to the international classification CICES v5.3 were prepared. Furthermore, maps of population distribution according to residential buildings and the number of inhabitants of individual residential zones were prepared. Based on the relationships between the potential of the provided ecosystem services and the distribution of the population, the population's demand for ecosystem services was calculated. Subsequently, I evaluated the development, distribution and current situation in the study area. The topic of evaluation of ecosystem services is relatively little developed in Slovakia. The submitted diploma thesis is to bring new methods of evaluation, which will be beneficial in the field of landscape planning and land management.
