This bachelor thesis focuses on the use of dowel-type fasteners, more particularly screws in beech construction joints. Meanwhile, all joints deal with and describe only joints in coniferous structures, because spruce, fir, are one of the most widely used wood raw materials for building structures. At the beginning of this work is described about wood in general and about its use in building constructions. Furthermore, wood-based materials with a general description, wood raw material and beech itself are mentioned. In addition, the basic physical and mechanical properties and structure of beech wood are also described. It is a job that focuses on links and therefore must not be missing a description, such as links from a historical perspective and modern connections. In the last chapters, the work focuses on the bolts themselves in the beech joints, the possibilities and factors affecting the strength of the joints. The effect of wood density on the strength of the aperture walls fh,k is described and compared by calculation on spruce and beech wood.
