In our work we dealt with the problem of spruce forest die-back, we analyzed the impact of forest die-back on changes in the interception process of precipitation in the climax spruce of the Western Tatras in the conditions of it calamity decline. Spruce forests decline was caused by the action of abiotic factors (wind, temperature) and by bark beetle (Ips typographus). The research was carried out in the research area Červenec in the Western Tatras at an altitude of 1, 420 m a.sl.. The research area is covered with spruce forest, some of which died in 2012 and currently we see a massive occurrence of Pseudevernia furfuracea (L.). In the diploma thesis we evaluate and compare the interception losses of live stands (ALIVE) and dead stands (LICHEN and DEAD) during the vegetation periods 2017 – 2018 and non-vegetation periods 2017/2018 – 2018/2019. The collection of experimental data took place in three parts of the stand: in the central crown zone near the stem, in the canopy gap and in the dripping zone at crown periphery. We also analyze the absorption of ALIVE, LICHEN, DEAD twigs by water. Based on the results we can state that the average interception of non-vegetation periods is highest in the LICHEN and DEAD stands in the central crown zone near the stem and in the ALIVE stand in the canopy gap. During the growing season, we recorded the highest average interception in the ALIVE and DEAD stands in the central crown zone near the stem. The highest variability of precipitation was characterized dripping zone at crown periphery. The highest water absorption was achieved by the LICHEN twigs, followed by the DEAD branches and the lowest water absorption we recorded by the ALIVE branches.
