The thesis focuses on the environmental situation in ski resorts of Middle Liptov area. Three ski resorts are analyzed: Žiar – Dolinky (altitude 810 – 906 m a.s.l.), Závažná Poruba –Ski Opalisko (altitude 810-930 m a.s.l..), Jasná – North (altitude 943-2004 m a.s.l.). First two resorts represent small to tiny ski resorts of local importance while Jasná – North represents a ski resort of great scope, nation-wide to supra-national importance. The climate changes, changes in snow cover and technical data about the state of ski resorts are analyzed. Further the man-made snow making is evaluated. SWOT analysis considers the strengths and weaknesses of each resort and also evaluates opportunities and threats of current and future development.
