Abstract The theme of this bachelor thesis is the species and ecological characteristics of forest types, of the group of forest types Fageto-Quercetum. The aim is to characterize and differentiate the forest types of the Central Slovakian vulcanites and compare them with the ecosystems of the same forest types on the East Slovak volcanic regions and of other Slovak regions with different bedrock type, based on a database of 1721 typological representative plots. Forest type 2302 is distinguished in Central Slovakian vulcanites by a lower proportion of calciphylous to basiphilous species. Species composition of the forest type 2302 is distinguished by a higher proportion of mesotrophic mesophytes, and the other regions of Slovakia with different bedrock types are differentiated by higher participation of oak-forest meso-eutrophic species. Species compositionin other regions with diferent bedrock types is differentiaded by the significanted constancy of oak-forest meso-to-eutrophic species. The forest type 2305 in the territory of the Central Slovakian vulcanites has a lower proportion of mesotrophic mesophytes compared to the vulcanites in eastern Slovakia. Forest type 2306 in the territory of Central Slovakian volcanic is characterized by a higher proportion of nitrophilous and oak-forest meso-eutrophic species. The difference between the eastern Slovakia volcanites areas is higher constancy of Avenella flexuosa. Forest type communities 2306 differ in the territory of other Slovak regions by higher constancy of taxa of the ecological group of acidophilic-oligotrophic mesophytes. Forest type 2309 is characterized by high constancy of mesotrophic xerophytes in the territory of Central Slovak vulcanites. The territory of other regions of Slovakia with different bedrock types is characterized by high constancy of mesotrophic mesophytes. For the area of eastern Slovak vulcanites, are significant in terms of their coverage the taxa Luzula luzuloides and Poa angustifolia. Forest type 2311 in the territory of Central Slovakian vulcanites is characterized by the distinctive constancy of Chaerophyllum hirsutum, which belongs to the ecological group of species of permanently wet soils and cool sites - eutrophic to nitrophilous. For forest type 2312 in the territory of other regions of Slovakia with a different bedrock types, are important taxa for the constancy Pulmonaria obscura and Aliaria petiolata. The results are compared with the survey of forest types Lesné typy Slovenska (Hančinský 1972). General characteristics of forest types based on database records show some differences with the published descriptions. Significant differences were found especially in bedrock type representation in the forest types
