Wood is becoming more popular in the constructions, due to his ecological impact, accessibility and usability. However with growing interest, safety of this buildings must grow as well. The goal of this bachelor thesis is to show fire resistance of wooden construcions and in the same time compare char levels of different types of wood with different shapes of surfaces. Tested samples were exposed to radiation panel, where char levels were determined by the temperature on the thermocouples. After that, samples were cut in the middle and the thickness of charring was compared. The results of the tests showed that square timber is better in fire resistance than round timber and also that spruce timber is a little better in fire resistance than fir timber.
