Main topic of thethesis is evaluation of the digital terrain model of Slovak Republic 5.0 on the testing area in cadastral polygon Sielnica village near the enterprise of the Technical university in Zvolen. In the first chapters we are taking a look on the individual methods of getting data about terrain –terrestrial measurements, digital photogrammetry, radar and sonar mapping and laser scanning called also LiDar, where we are partly characterising also digital surface models, terrain and normalized surface models. We can not forget to mention partof the history and progress in last decades in some of the methods. These methods are used more and more nowadays and are getting better every day. In the next chapters we are analysing how to state digital terrain model in mathematical way, how to visualize terrain relief on the maps and again, we are taking a look into the history and we compare and describe individual digital terrain models in Slovakia from 1965 till nowadays. Data from laser scanning made on university ́s forestry enterprise in 2011 were used as a experimental material. Programmes in which we were working, modules we used for calculations and data we used are described in methodological part. At the end of the thesis, we are comparing digital terrain model from two sources from the same locality. We are also comparing gained results and we are establishing possible use of datasets and their potential.
