In the presented diploma thesis we deal with the evaluation of innovation in Slovakia. We consider the assessment of innovation in countries to be important, because innovation is one of the main pillars of a country's economy. In the first part of the diploma thesis we define the theoretical basis for innovation, types of innovation, we define what is an innovation process and what processes make it up. In the next part we define the term cluster and analyze what types we know in Slovakia. We further analyze and rate innovation in Slovakia on the basis of data obtained from the Statistical Office and other sources of analysis. We rate innovation on the basis of selected indicators, which we compare between companies in Slovakia or within the European Union. In the final part we deal with the evaluation of the obtained results. Slovakia's position in the innovation index is slightly improving year-on-year, which means that Slovakia is on track, but steps still need to be taken to improve the innovation environment for companies in Slovakia.
