The bachelor's thesis is a detailed and chronological biography of an important Czech forester and teacher Josef Opletal. The main goal of the work is to provide a picture of the life of Josef Opletal, to capture in detail his most important moments. Josef Opletal was a man, who had grown a love of nature since childhood. Thanks to that, his honesty and desire to move forward, he was a great asset for building and improvement quality of forestry during his work in forests, at that time. At the times of first after war Czecho-Slovak republic, during the efforts of banks and doubtful businessmen for profit, he stood on the side against individuals who wanted to enrich themselves at the expense of irrational management of the wealth from nature. By this, he saved a large part of the Slovak and Subcarpathian forests from disproportionate logging. Later in his life, he was passing on his life experiences by teaching at the University of Agriculture in Brno.
