This graduation thesis focuses on the issue of sound insulation and impact noise, sound insulation in general and application of chosen materials into building constructions. The first part of the thesis includes a general analysis of the given issue which aims to describe an area of insulation materials and products as well as their application in the construction practice. Furthermore, a description of sound sources that have a negative impact on well-being on workplaces and at home is included in the first part of the thesis as well. The aim of the graduation thesis is to examine a level of applicability of insulating materials and products in building constructions that insure sound insulation. The practical solutions of using floor constructions in terms of sound insulation is examined in the second part of the thesis. Selected materials for the purpose of this study are produced and used in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom, namely, Cellecta Deckfon Quattro, Silio, pressed acoustic boards, Isover T-N, HMC Acoustic, TopSilent Adhesive. Comparisons were made between these materials to test their soundproofing and footstep sound insulation abilities. The comparison showed that the mentioned sound insulation properties are significantly influenced by the thickness of the material, the correctness of the design and the elimination of sound bridges. Moreover, the materials were also compared in terms of their varying reactions to different classes of fire intensity, however, not all assessed materials have this information. The findings suggest that examined materials are safe from at the view of fire protection. The last part of the thesis contains recommendations for choosing the right sound insulation material.
