In this diploma thesis we focus on the issue of designing fire shutters for the building, while the main goal is to select the right shutters for our building. In order to achieve the main goal, it was necessary to fulfill a number of sub-goals which the main goal depended on. At the beginning, we provide an overview of the current state, basic terms and definitions in terms of the Building Act, participants in the construction, documentation and fire safety of the construction. Subsequently, we move to the current state of the issue of fire shutters, a general description, division, classification and fire resistance and requirements for fire shutters, and we end with a look at fire shutters used in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. In the next part, we focuse on achieving the sub-goals that are necessary to achieve the main goal. In the end, we focuse on selecting a suitable fire shutter for our building. The meaning of this work is to approach the process of design and selection of fire shutters for construction. Additionally, in case someone will be concerned with the issue, it should show him how to get to the desired/required result.
