The aim of this thesis was to describe the general characteristics of chimneys, the basic division of chimney fires, the most common causes of these fires and also the statistics of fire in connection with appliances, flues and chimneys. The next part of the thesis describes and defines the activities and possible complications that arise during the intervention of fire brigades during chimney fires. The work also includes extinguishing agents used to fight these fires. The final part of the diploma thesis consists of a draft methodological sheet for firefighting in the event of a chimney fire.
