The bachelor's thesis deals with the elaboration of a written document on explosion protection of a selected car service with a paint shop. The document will be elaborated based on the European Directive 99/92 / EC ATEX, transposed into the Regulation of the Government of the Slovak Republic No. 393/2006 Coll. on minimum requirements for ensuring occupational safety and health protection in explosive atmosphere. The operation and its parts were described in the document as well as the technology of repair application of painting substances to the vehicle body and fire-technical characteristics of natural gas, butyl acetate and acetone. Parts of the operation, the spray box and the paint storage were assigned to zone 0 with the danger of explosion of flammable substances in the form of gas, steam and mist. The preparatory part of the operation was assigned to zone 20 with the danger of explosion of flammable dust. We proposed technical and organizational measures by evaluating the risk of explosion. Marking the area of the spray booth and the preparation part with the risk of explosion, the use of tools for grinding with dust extraction and the use of an industrial vacuum cleaner during regular maintenance of the preparation part belong to those measures. The measures were proposed as a supplement to the Decree of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic No. 142/2004 Coll. on fire safety at construction and use of the workrooms and other areas in which the coating of products with painting substances is carried out. The proposed measures will significantly increase safety and health in an explosive atmosphere.
