In the bachelor's work we solve the issue of non-traditional initiation sources as a potential for fires. Based on fire statistics in the Slovak Republic for the years 2010 - 2019, we selected Christmas lights and fireworks products as subjects for research. We chose two samples of Christmas lighting products from Slovak manufacturers and two samples from Chinese manufacturers and one sample of firecrackers, fireworks from a Slovak manufacturer and a Chinese manufacturer. We came to the results by evaluating the information from the enclosed instructions for use and visually evaluating each product. To evaluate non-traditional initiation sources, we used the method of analysis of the effects of failures and their consequences FMEA, which led to the possible causes of failures caused by the product itself. For non-traditional sources of ignition, such as the potential for fires, we propose that the manufacturer emphasize greater consumer awareness and product quality in terms of power management and insulation. We have not found any mistakes in the field of fireworks from the point of view of the manufacturers, and therefore our only proposal to increase safety before a fire is to inform, especially adolescents, how to handle pyrotechnics safely. The production of Christmas lights must comply with STN 33 2000-1: 2009 Low voltage electrical installations. Part 1: Basic principles, determination of general characteristics, definitions. Fireworks must comply with NV SR no. 70/2015 Z. z. on the placing on the market of pyrotechnic articles.
