Family businesses function as foundations for most national economies. They provide employment opportunities, inspire innovation and often bring in notable income. Based on evaluation of the current state of family enterprises this diploma thesis aims to identify key internal determinants, which influence their development, and to draft measures, implementation of which will help maintain the already existing ones and at the same time support the newly started family businesses in Slovakia. Conclusions were reached by means of empirical research focused to obtain information on the individual determinants of family enterprises. Individual aspects, which influence family business were identified based on the research results and a draft of measure was composed, which will contribute to improve effective of family businesses in Slovakia.
