The subject of submitted bachelor thesis is the design of the municipal centre in Chrenovec-Brusno. It is mainly focused on the concept of a public library as a part of this centre. Within the framework of the analysis of local environment it gives information on the municipality's history, conditions and capacities. This chapter concludes with an insight into major development capacities of the municipality. Those capacities are established on the analysis of vertical and spatial fragmentation. I tried as much as possible to preserve or renovate the current buildings while designing the new concept of the property. Concerning the spatial arrangement, I considered more possibilities. The final concept of the arrangement and the complete idea of the building is captured in the drawings section. Several principles of low-energy buildings are applied in the philosophy of the concept. The design aims at the high variability of operational schemes. Equally important is low energy consumption. The building uses several systems: heat recovery, air pre-heating in the base structure, outdoor shielding, ventilated facade gap, optimal dimensional concept of the structure with regard to the path of the Sun etc. The thesis also contains the visualisations of the designed structures.
