The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe and create a profile of ideal traits, which should a professional retailer possess. Bachelor thesis structure is composed of four main chapters. The first chapter discusses the personal sale, its activities, forms, sales process, which consists of seven steps and also illustrates a significant factor in personal sales. The first chapter includes also sales psychology and the retailer profession. We have characterised appropriate appearance of the retailer and we have confirmed Shakespeare’s quote: “Clothes make the man”. One of the professional areas where the personality is crucial today is selling. Therefore the retailer’s personality and general classification of personalities is included in the second chapter of the thesis. Temperament comprises part of the personality as well; therefore the most famous typologies of personalities are mentioned. In addition, the thesis discusses topics like the personality styles at sale and ideal retailer traits. The aim and methodology of the thesis is characterized in the third chapter. Questionnaire with pilot testing in the fourth chapter concludes the topic.
