Since the accession of the Slovak Republic to the EU, there has been an opportunity to acquire Euro funds to support projects that contribute to EU environmental objectives. Funding for projects improving the environment is governed by the European Directives and submitted on the basis of calls. OP KŽP is a program document of the Slovak Republic for drawing assistance from the EU Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund in the 2014-2020 programming period in the area of sustainable and efficient use of natural resources, ensuring environmental protection, active adaptation to climate change and support for an energy-efficient low-carbon economy for which the managing authority. In line with the requirements arising from the environmental acquis and in line with the waste management hierarchy, the aim is to increase waste recovery as well as increase the share of preparation for re-use and waste recycling. To achieve these objectives, they will be pursued under the specific objective of the Operational Program: "Increasing the rate of recovery of waste with a focus on their preparation for re-use and recycling and promoting waste prevention". The aim of this work was to gain knowledge about OP KŽP resp. to get acquainted with the way of project implementation as well as to evaluate and compare the period of OPE 2007-2013 and OP KŽP 2014-2020 (to 31.12.2018) in terms of achieved measurable indicators and find out reasons for not fulfilling measurable indicators for individual projects.
