Lednicky, Lukas: The creation of visual teaching aids for supporting of chemistry teaching. [Master’s Thesis] University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra. Faculty of natural sciences. The aim of this thesis was to create visual teaching aids, such as comics and posters, for primary and secondary school students. We had assumed that their use in chemistry education would have a significant positive impact on lesson effectivity, student knowledge and longevity of acquired information. However, we have concluded that only the comics had proven to have an enhancing effect on the education. The posters have not shown statistically significant impact on students‘ knowledge, therefore this hypothesis could not be confirmed. Next we tried to detect the amount of popularity of chemistry as a subject among boys and girls individually. We have researched primary and secondary schools separately. In secondary school, the difference in statistics between the two genders was insignificant. In primary school was, however, our hypothesis confirmed and we found out that boys are more keen on chemistry than girls. Next, we had assumed that there is to be a statistically significant relationship between the use of comics or posters in education and perception of their likeability to students from the teachers‘ point of view. This hypothesis has been confirmed, therefore, if the teacher sees aids as likeable to a student, they will use it, if it’s available in said education. Using a questionnaire we have come to the conclusion that both students and teachers find visual teaching aids appealing and would like to use them more frequently in their lessons.
