The thesis is focused on automation and optimization at manual operating workplace of a single-purpose machine TA3790 - EYD - an eight-position carousel. The thesis contains a comparison and analysis of possible automation solutions suitable for the specific soldering machine manufactured by PP - tech, s. r. o. Part of the thesis solution is also design of necessary equipment, which allow soldered components insert into the machine. In the theoretical part of the thesis, boundary conditions and inputs that are limiting for the design of workplace automation are reviewed, especially in terms of soldering technology, its physical principles and an overview of different soldering methods used in the engineering industry. In this chapter, characteristics and properties of solders and fluxes, hygiene and safety requirements for the workplace are revised. In practical part of the thesis, design of the fully automated workplace is proposed and the thesis focuses on necessary modifications of the original machine TA3790 – EYD. In this part, suitable methods and possibilities of automation, the correct choice of the robot or manipulator and its accessories are performed. In the conclusion, the technical and economic assessment of the solution and a view into the future is mentioned.
