VEĽAS Adam: Comparison of animal damage in selected forest stands in the Vihorlatské vrchy. (Bachelor's thesis). Technical University in Zvolen. Faculty of Forestry, Department of Applied Zoology and Management of the Animals. Head of the bachelor's thesis: Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Rudolf Kropil, PhD. Zvolen, 2021. 56 p. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare the animal damage on forest stands in the Vihorlatské vrchy based on the factors influencing the amount of damage and propose protective measures based on the obtained data. The theoretical part of the final thesis has described the damages, biotic factors that cause damages on the forest stands, the reasons for damage, and possible protection against this damage. The empirical part consists of the research of the damages caused by bite on the target trees in the forest complex Kamienka on three selected stands and subsequent comparisons of the results. In the stand no. 86b the damage rate of the beech reached 15,57 % and the destruction rate was 3,46 % of the total number of beeches. As regards spruce damage the rate reached 1,97 % and in the case of the deciduous spruce 0,03 %, the number of destroyed trees was not found, in the case of these tree species. In the stand no. 15 the damage rate in the beech reached 19,45 % and the proportion of the destroyed trees was 5,65 %. 2,35 % of spruce trees were damaged and 0,65 % were destroyed. In the stand no. 19 the damage rate of the beech reached the value of 0,78 % and the proportion of the destruction reached 0,18 %. In the case of the maple the proportion of damaged trees was 4,58 % and 0,73 % was destroyed. From the obtained results after rounding to 5 %, were determined the amounts of damages in three selected stands, which are part of the category of special-purpose forests. The final part contains proposals for protective measures to minimize the damage of animals in the forest stands. Key words: animal damage, bite, LC Kamienka
