This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of quantity of the European hare (Lepus europaeus Pall. 1778) with regard to air temperature and precipitation in the area of the hunting association Lehnice on Žitný ostrov in Slovakia. The introductory part is concerned with the biology and ethology of hares, and is followed by the description of the appropriate environment for this animal accompanied with the statistics concerning its numbers. The numbers are based on the catch recorded in individual years, which shows decreasing tendencies. This trend is influenced not only by weather conditions, but also by quality of food, disease incidence, and the influence of unfavourable anthropogenic factors. The latter factors, however, were not considered in this work. The next part of the thesis looks into the biometeorological factors, closely considering the air temperature and atmospheric precipitation. These two are processed and evaluated in the form of thermopluviograms in the conclusion of the work. The analysis showed that the most favourable years are slightly hotter and more humid than the long-range average.
