Archive images represent a valuable source of information on spatio-temporal changes in the development of forest stands. The aim of the topic is to verify the possibility of classifying the forest land cover using historical satellite images of Corona. The area of interest is the VŠLP TU in Zvolen. The subject of the processing are images of the time series and their post-classification comparison will determine the changes in the coverage of the area by forest vegetation in the period 1964 - 1967. The best classification method was the maximum probability method with which we achieved the best overall classification accuracy(52%). However, this method still did not achieve high accuracy, which gives room for further research on this topic.
