Thesis summarizes and evaluates available information on the activities of Slovak organizations and individuals aimed at supporting and repatriating populations of wildlife in the European Union, while bringing a new perspective on the issue. A total of 26 repatriation projects were processed from 1969 to 2020. The first part of the results describes in detail the individual projects, which are then evaluated in the second part. The results are clearly categorized according to animal species, source populations, types of participating organizations, geographical distribution, financing, release methods and post-release monitoring methods. As an important part of the projects, I evaluated the post-monitoring of individuals not only to verify the set goals but also to obtain valuable information about the biology and ethology of the species. The work confirms and at the same time draws attention to the importance of zoos, rehabilitation stations and private breeding not only as genetic resources but together with the state administration, non-profit organizations and civic associations as important participants in projects aimed at supporting and restoring endangered animal populations, which is an integral part of species protection management.
