The work focuses on succession in family businesses. The process of generational exchange and succession is currently undergoing a large number of Slovak family businesses, which were founded after the Velvet revolution in 1989. The aim of the thesis was based on the evaluation of succession in family businesses in Slovakia during the Covid crisis carrying out a generational change and proposing measures to support the success of the transfer of the family business from the founder to the young generation. We obtained primary data based on empirical research aimed at obtaining information on the issue of succession in family businesses in Slovakia. From the achieved results, we identified aspects that have an impact on the succession process and at the same time we have developed a proposal for measures that will contribute to better planning of the generational change.
