The diploma thesis deals with the issue of providing the flood protection in the Hranovnica municipality. The aim of the work was to propose and apply a model system of flood risk management at the municipal level. Within this model, attention was paid to the analysis, evaluation and assessment of the susceptibility, vulnerability and resilience of the area of the municipality of Hranovnica to the floods. Geographical analyses aimed at assessing the susceptibility of the area to floods were processed in the ArcGIS environment. Modelling the vulnerability of the area to floods, i.e. potential impacts of a hundred-year and five hundred year flood, was performed in the HEC-RAS hydrodynamic model and the geographical layers entering the modelling were created through the HEC-GeoRAS extension. The municipality's resilience to the impacts of floods was evaluated based on an assessment of the extent of the flooded area during a hundred and five hundred year flood and the existing personnel capacities and material and technical equipment of forces participating in flood rescue works. By comparing the vulnerability of the one hundred year and five hundred year floods, we concluded that the same areas in the municipality would be flooded, but largely. A five hundred year flood will affect a larger area. The water will flood of 9,437.58 m2 more than during the one hundred year flood.
