The aim of this work is to point out dangerous acids that are present in SEVESO enterprise in Slovakia in such a quantity that they pose a risk of Major Industrial Accident. The bachelor thesis focuses on the dangers that these acids pose in the event of fire or in contact with humans, as well as the precautions to be taken in the aforementioned unwanted events. Specifically, it is acrylic acid, nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, formic acid, monochloroacetic acid, peroxyacetic acid, propionic acid. They are corrosive substances, some of which are toxic, flammable or fire-promoting. They endanger human health, the environment and aquatic organisms. They are used in various branches of industry, in chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and paper, nuclear power plants, but also in chemical distribution companies. In the work, the sites of SEVESO enterprise where the acids are found are indicated on the maps. There are 10 SEVESO enterprise in Slovakia with dangerous acids occurring in Slovakia, most of them are concentrated in the Trnava Region. The most common acid present in SEVESO plants in Slovakia is nitric acid, used in seven of them.
