The aim of this diploma thesis was to design a restoration of the “Stará Pracháreň” building in Trnava. The building is located in an exposed position of the historic city center, on the corner of Radlinského and Trojičné square streets. The entered mass originally consists of two objects, which were later functionally connected. The whole building is declared a national monument. The building proceed several reconstructions, the last in 1997, when a significant extension of two floors on Radlinského street was added. After a cereful analysis of the historical context and evolution of the building, the work focuses mainly on the adaptation of the building to a new function, which was assigned by the investor - the municipality. The “Pracháreň” building is partly functionally used as a children's (puppet) theater with an emphasis on the variable use of the hall. Other parts of the building, which are oriented to the square on the ground floor, fulfill the function of a wine tavern, in the cellars there are two spaces used as museum of wine and its tradition in this region. The rest of the building consists of theater facilities and office space, which also serve the operation of the theater. The solution has the ambition to react sensitively to the surrounding buildings and preserve all valuable historical layers.
