The right to education is a fundamental human right and must be ensured for all people, including people with disabilities or social disadvantage. Every person has a right to be educated in natural heterogeneous environment that accepts diversity of people and leads to social inclusion of all people. Consistent inclusion of all persons in the educational process is closely related to accessibility of environment of school buildings and campuses, which must be designed and implemented in accordance with the legislation and the principles of universal design - design for all. The aim of habilitation thesis is to provide an overview of the issue of inclusive education, the demands and needs of people in the educational environment and present a proposal for the implementation of the principles of universal design in the development of an inclusive school environment. Comprehensive implementation of the method of universal design in the school environment provides an equal opportunity for all persons to participate not only in educational activities, but also in social life which leads to the fulfillment of social inclusion.
