Habilitation thesis deals with urban hotel in terms of its history, classification, determinants of its design and possible future developments in the context of new strategies and typologies. It focuses on the new dialogue of urban hotel features and its impact on typological solution to operation as a whole but also changes in the layout of the circuit-operational. The result is an urban hotel as a specific type of hotel with new functional structure of spaces for customers with quality impact on the existing classification of hotel facilities. For the description of the different developmental stages and analyzing the determinants and categories is in this work the focus on examples selected from Slovak hotel scene. The importance of this work is to review the current classification of hotel facilities, and its position as a new textbook of the trends outlined and explained in varying degrees.
