The aim of this M.A. thesis was to develop a construction design of a new-build of the National Technical Museum in Bratislava. The new-built museum is to be located at the site of the former complex for culture and relaxation called Park kultúry a oddychu (hereinafter “PKO”) which is situated between the quay Dvořákove nábrežie and the quay Nábrežie armádneho generála Ludvika Svobodu in Bratislava.The new-built technical museum comprises of 3 functional and dilatation units, each of them serving a specific purpose and together forming a compound which complies with all the prerequisites and formalities assigned to the headquarters of all the Slovak technical museums.The first functional unit is designed as an office building which houses both the depository and the premises that can be used as offices, staff day rooms and a lecture hall for the visitors. This unit is a one-storey building with a full basement. There are only technical equipment rooms as well as the depository on the 1st basement level while the remaining public and staff premises are located on the 1st above-ground level.The second unit serves as an exhibition hall for the oversized exhibits of military, aircraft and transport technology. The hall is designed as a one-storey building constructed with combined reinforced concrete prefabricated and monolithic constructions. The front façade is composed of light curtain walling in the form of glass façade combined with reinforced concrete constructions made of sight concrete.The third unit comprises of a four-storey exhibition premises with smaller exhibition halls as well as lecture rooms for interactive learning and relaxation of children and the youth. The façade of this exhibition unit is a combination of sight reinforced concrete, glass walls and rusted steel walling of the cor_ten type.
