The aim of the bachelor thesis is to design local market, and thus add new social value to the territory. Site is located in Dubravka, city borough of Bratislava, next to the courthouse. Nowdays the foregrounds of this culturally important building provides space for occasional events such as farmer’s market etc. The design shifts these events to the new adjecent space, forefield of the market, and thus brings back the representative character that the courthouse actually lacks. Sloping grass-covered terrain inspired the effort to apply the principles of sustainable architecture, for example shaping the building according to Socrates’ sun-tempered house principle, use green roof and eco-friendly materials, reuse of shipping containers or use of renewable energy. Architectural identity of the building lies in repeating glued laminated timber frames, running through the glazed curtain wall, accentuation of the main entrance by extruding glazed façade of the second floor, in the width of one frame module or the use of customized reused shipping containers in the interior of the market as vendor stalls or office spaces. Market trade as the primary purpose of the building is compleneted by café and co-working space. The design respects urbanistic composition as the building is located parallel to street Saratovska, with the main façade oriented perpendicular to this composition axis. Located in the northern part of the site, the public park follows the original sloping terrain and develops it futher by covering the supporting wall of the parking lot and planting new greenery.
