DVM. Dušan Rajský, PhD., 68 p. The content of the diploma thesis is the evaluation of the spreading of giant worm Fascioloides magna in forest deer in Komárno district in the years 1995 – 2019 and the related hunting area in JI Podunajská. This work is built on the bachelor thesis, in which we examined the occurrence of Fascioloides magna in the population of red deer in the district of Komárno focused on the hunting area JI Podunajská. The information gained from the bachelor thesis was expanded to include new knowledge concerning the giant worm that has spread to our conditions from the original area in North America. In the current thesis we present the results related to the research of the giant worm, in the primary focus of fascioloidosis in the Slovak Republic, in the hunting area of JI Podunajská, specifically in its eastern part, in the hunting grounds of the Komárno district. As a part of the research, we consulted the information found with the experience of local hunters and representatives of veterinary organizations. The results of the work are documented and the photographic evidence of cases of the infected deer hunted down in the hunting grounds of the Komárno district represent a textual and visual aid for hunting practice. In the submitted diploma thesis we also present recommendations for hunting practice aimed at prevention and observance of breeding and veterinary measures related to the deer breeding.
