The main aim of Diploma Thesis deals with the issue and analysis of risiks in forestry. The purpose of the final work was to create a literature review of safety and health protection at work abroad and also in Slovakia. We also analyzed accidents at work in the organization Lesy SR, š.p. and in the conditions of urban companies around the lower Turiec. These cultivated are located in the Great and Little Fatra areas. The final number of occupational injuries during the period under review reached 1819 cases in Lesy SR, 45 cases in urban areas. The more frequent occurrence of injuries was recorded in the mining - transport process. Logging is the most hazardous activity in forestry. In the state enterprise, 452 occupational injuries occurred in mining, accounting for 24 % of all occupational injuries. Of the 45 occupational accidents, 9 of the total number of accidents involving timber was 20 % of the total number of accidents. Legs (42 %) and hands (24 %) were the most frequent injuries of the work injury. The analysis was also confirmed in leg (33 %) and hand (31 %) as the most affected parts of the body. A group of workers aged between 40 and 50 became the highest number of work injuries. The frequency of occupational injuries has a decreasing tendency from the interval of the examined time period. The main breakthrough came in 2004, when the number of occupational accidents fell by about 80%.
