This bachelor thesis deals with experimental investigation of mechanical properties of dowel joints stressed by bending moment in angular plane of spruce and beech wood 12 mm and 18 mm thick, and subsequent verification of computational models of dowel joints for solid wood. Hardware device that mechanicaly joints two wood components are dowels 6 mm and 10 mm diameter. The experiments were performed on a test machine called LabTest 4.050 from LaborTech. The result of this work is to determine load carrying capacity and stiffness od dowel joints for 6 mm and 10 mm dowel diameter and for spruce and beech wood and subsequent determination of characteristic values of these properties and comparing them with other authors. The results in this work can be used in the sizing of dowel joints as well as when deciding on the applicability of given joint in certain furniture construction.
