The work is generally focused on obtaining, processing, classification and subsequent use of interpreted research analyzes. The data used to assess condition of the forest of Javorova dolina in the area of Belianske Tatry were obtained using the satellite system Sentinel 2. These data, resp. we processed multispectral images in the QGIS software environment, using plugins and implemented program tools. The work compares the classification of the area in different time horizons, which examines the change in the area characteristics of the territory due to the impact of harmful factors and their environmental impact on the landscape. Part of the work demonstrates the change in the area characteristics of the studied classes in the time horizon of 5 years from advanced vegetation in 2015 to advanced vegetation in 2019. The second part of the research is focused on evaluating changes in land cover using a historical image from 1950 and comparing it with the current state of the forest. The classification of these areas was processed through multispectral images with 10 meter pixel resolution. Achieved results of classification and comparison of forest condition using the application of procedures for obtaining area characteristics of the area point to the possibility of further use in the analysis of various vegetation indices of land cover.
