This diploma thesis is focused on determining of the noise loading in a selected area - the village Vlkanová, caused by a neighboring plant for energy recovery of biodegradable waste. In the theoretical part we deal with the most common types of fuels used in industry and also with the type of power plants in general, as well as power plants operated in Slovakia. Furthermore, the work presents the most important physical factors of the environment that affect the public health and comfort. More specifically, the state of physical factors in the selected area and the situation of life of the inhabitants in Vlkanová, who are most affected by the threat, are described. The practical part contains the actual noise measurement, measurement methodology and comparison of results with accredited measurements performed in previous years. The actual measurement was performed during the day, evening and night. The results showed that the noise limit values were exceeded in the measured time interval in the evening and at night, on the basis of which solutions for reducing the noice loading are finally proposed and thus improve the state of the environment.
