The main goal of my thesis was the reconstruction of the Námestie baníkov in the town of Rožňava. The main idea of my design is not to insert new dominant geometry to the square, but to underline the identity that got lost during the previous years. Námestie baníkov as the largest town square in Slovakia is bordered by buildings that retained the original shape. In my design, I am trying to primarily point out the architectural and historical values. Dominant feature of the town square is a protection tower and church that will be better superior to the square after tearing down close flower store. Memorial of Františka Andrassyová is moved in front of the protection tower on the elevated terrain. Since the axis of the church is not identical with the axis of the square, the tiles produce rhythmically ranked bands, whose role is to support the position of the church in the square's composition. Public space should be more attractive also because of exterior furniture, whose design is complementing the square. In my design I seeked to create compactness of the space and to eliminate inefficient elements. The square thus forms dispersion area that could be used during seasonal events, which is the square used the most intensively.
