The east Slovak city of Rožňava hides a unique medieval square, which is in a state not appropriate to its value. The aim of the bachelor's thesis was a proposal restoring his functional, aesthetical and technical values. The main idea of the proposal is to return this space to the people. For this reason, the traffic is diverted to the surrounding streets. This creates a calm pedestrian area. The composition of the design is specified by the socially and historically important sights in the place. The pavement is an optical guide to the town Watchtower, the town hall, the Bishop's residence and to the Jesuit church. The frequented pedestrian passage is also accentuated by the pavement. In my design the messages of the history of square, such as the tree alley in front of the church and four wells situated in the corners, are retained in a modern way. The designed public furniture completes the minimalistic atmosphere in the square, which by the contemporary way set off the extraordinariness of this medieval square.
