The aim of my bachelor thesis was to design a Gallery with restaurant situated at Sabinovskástreet near Štrkovec lake in Ružinov. The plot has many potentials, it is situated in recreation area and is visited by many people every day, therefore it was interesting to design an object in this locality. Placing of the object allows for walking trails along the lake and a passage from Stropkovástreet. The form of the building is divided into three parts, entrance, gallery, and café with restaurant. In the basement underground car park is situated. The entrance is single-storey, the restaurant with café has two storeys, and the biggest part with gallery has three storeys. The entrance has a flat roof, on the other two parts highly inclined roofs creating the core of the object's form were used. My goal was to design an object cooperating with its surroundings but dominating by its form, and expressing the character of the building. Therefore the form is sharply shaped and high in the gallery part and is considerably different from the surrounding residential houses. In order for the gallery to be highly attractive for the visitors of the lake, I created a recreation area serving as a square, space for people to meet each other at the front of the object. A terrace of the café is placed nearby providing for a more lively life in the neighbourhood. Hence, the object in no direction disturbs the current state of the locality, but, on the other hand, contributes to a higher lucrativeness of this area with its function, expression, and operation.
