The aim of the Bachelor work was to develop an architectural project of gallery building, near Štrkovec lake, on Sabinovská street in Ružinov, Bratislava. The consept of traffic roads was already developed and didn't need any further solving. Parking has been moved from the on site parking lot into an underground parking garage situated in the first underground floor. The terrain of the site is flat, with little sloping towards the lake. The major part of the construction site is made out of pavement, serving the existing parking lot with little grass covering in the west side. Vegetetion consisting mostly of large, tall trees is situated in between construction site and the lake. I tend to keep this vegetation in order to preserve natural feeling of the existing area.During designing of the gallery it was essential to look towards keeping the contact between existing apartment building and lake, not to make a barier between them and also to incorporate the building of gallery into existing urban structure. Another important goal during designing of the building was not to disturb the natural and relaxed look of the existing local area which is a well-known destination for sport and relaxing activities in Ružinov. The new building of the gallery will enrich the area with new amenities like reastaurant which are abscent at the current stage of the area. Gallery will also add a cultural life into the are in form of events, art fairs and exhibitions for the inhabitants of nearby apartmentment building and whole Ružinov. The design of the gallery was designed with understanding of current norms about hygiene, fire safety, engineering facilities of the building and its service and maintenance, structural design with accent on statics safety and the effectivity of making use of the physical character of materials. The main mass concept are two lines, two cubic volumes, constructed from vierendeel trusses which intersact in the south part of the construction site. These two masses together create exhibition space for future exhibitions. The main purpose of the two cubic volumes is creating a pathway and connection with exhibition area located inbetween. The final architectural look is constructed from three main materials used for facades and simple cubic volumes. It is the combination of corten plates, glass and STO stucco. The structured Schucco facades fixed to vierendeel girders create more transparent look of the building and is adding to the feeling that the actual building of the gallery is not creating a barier but rather addition to the existing site. Working on project, consulting with mentor, his point of view, consulting with engineers, gave me a more realistic outlook into career of an architect which I would like to use in my future practice and education.
