This bachelor's thesis deals with designing a Gallery and restaurant building. The building in question is a civic structure situated in Bratislava, on the eastern bank of Štrkovecké lake in the Ružinov estate. Thanks to its position, proximity of local amenities and its recreational function, this locality played an important role while creating both urban and architectural concept. The main goal was to create a structure the actual material of which would be similar to that of an object of art, all requirements for specific exhibition and presentational area in the interior of the structure would be met and its exterior surfaces would be harmonically interconnected with the lake. The designed object consists of two different triangle masses, which penetrate each other with their points, thus creating a single entity, but they remain divided into a gallery and a restaurant part from the functional point of view. The building consists of a basement and two stories. Garages and technical facilities are placed in the basement. The gallery entrance premises, offices, temporary exhibition premises, an auction hall, a safety-deposit box, a workshop, staff premises, hygiene facilities and also restaurant premises with kitchen can be found on the first floor, although this part of the building is placed on a single floor. On the second floor, an open exhibition space with the gallery in the middle, a safety-deposit box and hygienic facilities are located. The designed Gallery building is in harmony with the surrounding city planning and fits into it, fulfils the criteria for disposition and operation and uses modern materials.
