The theme of my final bachelor thesis is proposal for a new gallery at Sabinovska street in Bratislava, Slovakia. Plot is surrounded by panel housing, greenery and offers a view towards Strkovecke lake. The aim of my work is to design a fully functional gallery of modern art, which has a potentional to extend the cultural life beyond city centre. My proposal is an object of triangle shape, determinated by the plot proportions. This gesture encloses the built-up area and leaves lake undistorted. Gallery uses the two basic principles of exhibiting. The main entrance hall on the first floor is, almost as a covered square, collective space for public. It contains reception, restaurant, shop and open space for lectures, screening, performance. The second principle is a sequence of the rigid rooms of a size 7.9 x 7.9m, on the first underground floor, which provide more of a intimate connection with art. This floor also contains administratation, kitchen and supply rooms for restaurant. The second underground floor is for parkinf, technical rooms and storages. Object is surrounded by moat, which is 4m wide and lights up the underground floors and contains escape routes.
