The topic of this thesis is an architectural project of the gallery with a restaurant. Parcel for this project is located in Bratislava Ružinov, near Štrkovec lake. This location is perfectly situated in regards to the connection to the city's main roads, proximity to the water surface (land is located near the lake) and popularity among inhabitants of the city. The parcel is currently used as a parking lot. The main determinants of the environment are diversity of surroundings, existing public transport connections and requirements arising from the spatial planning documentation of this district. The height of buildings surrounding the object does not exceed 5 floors (15 meters). The gallery was designed as a universal medium for the presentation of all kinds of art works, in permanent and temporary exhibition spaces, the storage of the art collections and educational work. The building is designed so that it does not contrast with the natural environment of Štrkovec Lake -- both in terms of shape, and materials used. Composition consists of two units - lightweight transparent parter replicating triangular shape of land, and wooden shaded part of the exhibition and storage space. The bearing structure is made up of reinforced concrete frame and wall stiffening cores. Architecture is trying not to suppress, but on the contrary to encourage the atmosphere of the surrounding environment and its natural-recreational-cultural character.
