Blahová, Petra: Gallery (bachelor thesis) -- Slovak university of technology in Bratislava, Faculty of architecture -- Institute of Residential Buildings -- Thesis supervisor: doc. Ing. arch. Marián Malovaný, PhD. -- Bratislava: Faculty of architecture, 2014, 55 s. Aim of the bachelor thesis was to design a three-storey building at maximum, with galleries in cubic capacity 8000 m3 with an attached function of a restaurant. Assigned building land is located on the east side of Štrkovecké jazero in Bratislava 3 (Ružinov). Štrkovecké jazero is among the major recreation sites in Bratislava and it is appropriate to associate it with cultural object function. Plot is attractive with its view of the lake as well as far enough from the arterial communication roads, which eliminatine the noise and fumes of traffic. A pedestrian movement is predominated in the area. Parallel locating of the assigned building with residential house in the southeast of the plot allows a creation of possibilities for recreation and spare time activities orientated towards the lake. Concept enters the area naturally, responds to surrounding buildings and nature in an effort to maximize the attractiveness of the area for the general public and visitors to the gallery itself. The dominant compositional element of the assigned building is undulation of the main facade with two curves representing the water surface. Gallery space is designed as openspace, which is easily variable for the demands of different exhibitions. Illumination of this space is provided by an ingenious system of suspended ceilings and skylights that provides diffused lighting. The thesis is processed in two stages, namely: project for area management and project for building permission.
