Theme of my final bachelor thesis was Gallery with secondary function of restaurant. The site is located on the estate Štrkovec, in proximity of Štrkovec's Lake. It is placed on the street Sabinovská, where there is parking currently. My aim was, from my very first designs, to create gallery, which will highlight this location, will not disturb the current pedestrian and car traffic and will fit into the surroundings. Štrkovec's Lake is a very significant part of this location, what meaningly affected the evolution of my concepts too. With the architectural design and the design of public spaces, I wanted to connect the gallery with lake, to higiht this place of connection and to simplify the access to the water. Surrounding territory is composed of the apartment houses up to 5 floors, further from the site; there are also 8-12-floored apartment houses. In this location, the developement of the residential function dominates. Location is well connected with the city centre by traffic; there is a tram stop in proximity of the site. The distance from the centre is quite long, which may degrade the attractivity of the site. However, as it was written above, the place is unique because of its placement by the lake. In the first part of the final bachelor thesis, there is the architectural design, the solution of the whole site, traffic and public spaces. Object is designed as a monoblock. The aim of my design was to connect gallery with the water, but also to create a non-disturbed environment for the exhibited art. Therefore, the gallery is visualy and operationally connected with the lake by its parterre, which contains entrance spaces and restaurant, but still, the exhibition space is closed and the lightening is designed from above. The main and very elementary idea was to highlight the exhibiton space as the main function of the gallery, to clear this space and to separate it from the other functions of the gallery, visually with the use of different materials on the facade and also operationally. In the second part of the final thesis, the proposal is processed in a more detailed scale. It includes the detail design of construction, materials, disposition and also the connection to the existing utiities.
